Labonte confident going into VegasTRINITY, N.C. (Mar. 10, 2006) –Bobby Labonte is looking to have a good finish in this weekend’s UAW Daimler-Chrysler 400. After he tested at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the off-season, Labonte feels more confident going into the race.
“We didn’t test very good here over the break,” said Labonte. "But we went back and rebuilt that car and we brought another new car. So, I feel more confident because the car should be better.”
Labonte’s history at the Las Vegas track has been up and down. Although his average finish at this 1.5 mile oval is 15.4, he was the victim of an early accident during the 2005 event; he left Sin City with a 41st place finish. This year as a whole, Bobby is searching for consistency and good finishes for the #43 Cheerio’s Dodge.
“I like this track. In the past, before last year, I have run good here. I won the pole and got some top-5’s. I just hope the weather doesn’t play a factor so we have all the practice time we can get and hopefully get a good finish on Sunday.”
The UAW Daimler-Chrysler 400 will take the green flag on Sunday, March 12 at 4:30pm EST and can be seen on the Fox network.
